The first stop on our tour is the ancestral home of the British monarchy and the largest occupied castle in the world.
As you walk around the impressive grounds, it is almost hard to believe that successive kings and queens have been living here for over 900 years. Today, this beautiful castle is a favoured weekend residence of Her Majesty The Queen.
Next, enter the State Apartments through the impressive Waterloo Chamber. Once inside, you will have the chance to explore the same rooms used today by The Queen and members of the Royal Family.
The rooms here were intended to rival the opulence of the Palace of Versailles in France. As a result, paintings by renowned artists adorn the walls, and the ceilings are painted with elaborate murals.
Inside St George’s Chapel, you will visit the site of one of the most famous royal weddings of recent times. It was here where HRH Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018 in a ceremony watched by millions around the world.
Finally, you’ll watch a colourful display of typical British pomp and pageantry that takes place every morning at the Changing the Guard ceremony.
Our next stop is the mysterious site at Stonehenge, where you will step back 5,000 years in time to prehistoric Britain at the world’s most famous Neolithic monument.
Who built Stonehenge, and why? How was it constructed without modern tools and equipment? Discover the answer to these questions and solve the mystery yourself with the help of an interactive audio guide – exclusive to Evan Evans.
Last, but by no means least, we will be visiting the historic city of Bath – a beautiful city where the ancient meets the modern world.
The Romans arrived here around 45 AD and initially built a temple around the site of Britain’s only natural hot spring. Eventually, the site evolved into a spa where people could socialise and bathe.
Today, water still flows into the baths directly from the hot spring.
You’ll learn how the baths were built and even have the opportunity to taste a sample of the water from the hot spring!
The streets of Bath are lined with impressive examples of gorgeous Georgian architecture. As you wander the charming streets, you can’t help but admire the stunning honey-coloured buildings that could be straight from a Jane Austen novel.
Explore the city’s quaint shopping arcades and markets, or perhaps sit down for a spot of afternoon tea in a cosy café next to the River Avon – the choice is yours!
